First established in 1902 in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, now Zagorka S.A. is one of the leading Bulgarian breweries. In the mid-1990s, Zagorka Brewery became a fully-owned subsidiary of Dutch brewing giant Heineken. Its owners invested in it more than EUR 60 million, and made it the most modern brewery and a leader in Bulgarian beer market. Selling over one million hectolitres of beer yearly, Zagorka S.A. covers 31% of Bulgarian market.

Zagorka is the leading national premium beer brand in Bulgaria. It is the beer all Bulgarians are proud of. Zagorka is a full body, mildly-hoppy and richly-flavored lager with 5% alcohol by volume. It is commonly considered, by beer connaisseurs who have sampled dozens of lagers, ales, and pilsners from dozens of countries in eastern Europe, as being the best tasting beer in the region.

The Zagorka Brewery also produces the Ariana, Stolichno, Heineken, Amstel, Murphy and Kaiser's brands.
